"What's the Answer?" Message & Notes

"So also we, while we were children, were held in bondage under the elemental things of the world." - Galatians 4:3

I measure myself against some kind of standard. I consistently repeat to myself, “I ought to or I should.”

"For when Gentiles who do not have the Law do instinctively the things of the Law, these, not having the Law, are a law to themselves, in that they show the work of the Law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness and their thoughts alternately accusing or else defending them." - Romans 2:14-15

Athiest 10 Commandments:

  1. Do not do to others what you would not want them to do to you.

  2. In all things, strive to cause no harm.

  3. Treat your fellow human beings, your fellow living things, and the world in general with love, honesty, faithfulness and respect.

  4. Do not overlook evil or shrink from administering justice, but always be ready to forgive wrongdoing freely admitted and honestly regretted.

  5. Live life with a sense of joy and wonder.

  6. Always seek to be learning something new.

  7. Test all things; always check your ideas against the facts, and be ready to discard even a cherished belief if it does not conform to them.

  8. Never seek to censor or cut yourself off from dissent; always respect the right of others to disagree with you.

  9. Form independent opinions on the basis of your own reason and experience; do not allow yourself to be led blindly by others.

  10. Question everything.

"But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law, so that He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. Because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” Therefore you are no longer a slave, but a son; and if a son, then an heir through God." - Galatians 4:4-7

The comparison trap loses its grip when:

I look to my Dad for perspective. Dad do I measure up? Listen to my Dad’s Spirit. Dad where do I belong? Look to and listen to my Dad’s Promises. Dad where am I going to finish?
