Skyline's preparation for coronavirus

Skyline Church Family,

I am sure you have been following the news about the novel coronavirus (nCoV) which is a new strain of the coronavirus that had not been previously identified. The 2019 coronavirus (COVID-19) is similar to the coronaviruses that commonly circulate among humans and cause mild illness, like the common cold. It can cause additional symptoms, so we want to be extra careful.

How does the virus spread?

This virus probably initially emerged from an animal source but now seems to be spreading from person-to-person. It’s important to note that person-to-person spread can happen on a continuum. Some viruses are highly contagious (like measles), while other viruses are less so. At this time, it’s unclear how easily or sustainably this virus is spreading between people.

If you or someone you know, has returned from a country or state with high infection rates including China, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, Italy, Washington, Florida and California within the last 14 days, we ask that you watch our Sunday Service via our 9:00AM YouTube or 10:45AM Facebook Livestream from the comfort of your home for a minimum of 14 days (two Sunday services) from date of contact or return. If you show any symptoms, please seek medical attention immediately. We also continue to ask, as we always have, that if you or your child has had a fever in the past 24 hours without medication, that you stay home and stream the services.

With that said, we are taking some precautions in order to mitigate risk. We are usually a very huggy church with lots of contact. We are going to be just as connected, caring, and loving, but for this season, we are encouraging each other to show it in a whole new way, starting this weekend at our services. Please be creative in giving:

  • Air Hugs

  • Fist Bumps that do not touch

  • Waves

  • Air Kiss

  • Elbow Shakes that do not touch

  • Foot Bump

  • Knee Bump

  • No Eskimo kissing, unless you’re married LOL.

  • Be creative and come up with a Skyline greeting we can share.

We are also prepared as a church if the virus, unfortunately, moves into our area. We will not hold services on our campus but stream the service so we can meet online from the safety of our homes.   Building Lives Transformed by God's Grace Chris High Lead Pastor  Skyline Church www.skylinechurchnj.org
