Unfinished Surrender 

 

Acts 9-4 


As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him.  He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?”

 

1. What does Jesus have to do to get your attention?  

 

Acts 26:14  


It is hard for you to kick against the goads.

 

What clear attempts to reach your heart are you ignoring, rebelling or fighting against? 

 

Acts 9:10-12


In Damascus there was a disciple named Ananias. The Lord called to him in a vision, “Ananias!”  “Yes, Lord,” he answered. The Lord told him, “Go to the house of Judas on Straight Street and ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying.  In a vision he has seen a man named Ananias come and place his hands on him to restore his sight.”  

 

2. What impossible things is God asking you to do? 

 

Not Supernatural but complicated by the…. 

  • Fear  

  • Cost  

  • Unknown 

 

Acts 15a  


But the Lord said to Ananias, “Go!”  

 

From God’s perspective the only option is surrender. 

 

Acts 9:18-19 


Immediately, something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes, and he could see again. He got up and was baptized, and after taking some food, he regained his strength.

 

3. What is always the result of surrender to Christ? 

 

  • I win every time I surrender to Christ. 

  • Other’s win every time I surrender to Christ. 

 

Acts 9:27 


But Barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles. 

 

4. What do you expect Jesus to do in you and through you?  

Barnabas expected Jesus to do things just like this!
