Putting Anxiety in The Rearview Mirror
In one word, what’s the one thing that causes the most anxiety in your life today?
Anxiety has four cousins: Their names are Worry, Tension, Fear and Dread
The Big Idea: Treasure Jesus more than safety
Case Study #1: COVID-19
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust.” Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from deadly pestilence.
Case Study #2: The Culture
Do not call conspiracy everything that these people call conspiracy; do not fear what they fear, and do not dread what they dread. The Lord Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy, he is the one you are to fear, and he is the one you are to dread, and he will be your sanctuary;
Case Study #3: Cancer
1 Thessalonians 5:9-11
For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as you are doing.
As you go…
Put your “one-word anxiety” in the rearview mirror this week as you treasure Jesus over safety…as your Savior(no wrath = heaven) and Lord (rest and sanctuary here and now).
