Living Outside of The Box
Shall we continue in sin?
What do you use as motivation not to sin?
Guilt, Fear, Bribery, Bartering, Begging, Pride
What does Paul say is the reason not to sin?
1. That is not who I am.
a. I died.
We died to sin.
For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin.
“The person who was a slave to sin died.”
b. I am alive.
In the same way (as Jesus does), count yourselves dead to sin, but alive unto God in Christ Jesus.
“The person I am now, lives 100% for God.”
c. I live under grace.
For sin shall not be your master because you’re not under law, but under grace.
“Sin is not taken into account when there is no law.”
“There is no Box.”
The reason that sin will not rule over me is because my sins are not written down!
If I will never pay for the act of sin, why not sin?
1. Because that is not who I am.
But thanks be to God, that you wholeheartedly obeyed the form of teaching to which you were entrusted. You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.
2. Nothing good comes from sin.
What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death!
