Two Hearts Becoming One
What does God say?
Mark 10:5-8
“It was because your hearts were hard that Moses wrote you this law,” Jesus replied. “But at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female.’ ‘For this reason, a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.’ So, they are no longer two, but one flesh.
Genesis 2:18
The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”
Genesis 2:19
Now the Lord God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals and all the birds in the sky. He brought them to the man.
Genesis 2:20-22
But for Adam no suitable helper was found... Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.
Genesis 2:23
The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman, ‘for she was taken out of man.”
Genesis 2:24
That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.
Genesis 2:25
Adam and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.
Mark 10:8b-9
So, they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
The Problem
Hardness of Heart
Mark 10:5
“It was because your hearts were hard that Moses wrote you this law,”
I will not listen to or do what God says
Malachi 2:15b-16 NASB
Be careful then about your spirit and see that none of you deals treacherously against the wife of your youth. “For I hate divorce,” says the Lord, the God of Israel, “and him who covers his garment with violence,” says the Lord of armies. “So be careful about your spirit, that you do not deal treacherously.”
First, decide who will “be in charge” of your marriage—the husband, the wife, or Jesus Christ.
I choose to believe God and...
God is right, we are one. I am the one who fits with her or him.
I am leaving my past life.
I am going to stop pulling away and learn how to share myself with Her/Him.
Ask God to show me my hardness of heart.
