Coming Clean



 

Matthew 11:28-30


Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.


1. Get personal with Jesus


2. Give Jesus responsibility for the outcome.


3. Commit to Jesus as the final word.


4. Put on gentleness and humility/Drop the world’s way.


Proverbs 18:19


A brother wronged is more unyielding than a fortified city; disputes are like the barred gates of a citadel.


Psalm 52:3


For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me.


Proverbs 29:6


Evildoers are snared by their own sin, but the righteous shout for joy and are glad.


Proverbs 28:13


Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.


Psalm 139:23-24


Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.


Psalm 52:16-17


You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings. My sacrifice, O God, is[b] a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise.


2 Corinthians 7:10-11


Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death. See what this godly sorrow has produced in you: what earnestness, what eagerness to clear yourselves, what indignation, what alarm, what longing, what concern, what readiness to see justice done. At every point you have proved yourselves to be innocent in this matter.


Application Come Clean

  1. Name It: Write down the act, word, attitude that did not miss the mark include sins of the heart pride, selfishness, hatred.

  2. Price It: Write down the impact of your sin. And what you owe. All the people you have damaged. Relationships you have betrayed, Trust you have broken

  3. Pay For It: Confess and Repent.

  4. Ask for forgiveness.

  5. Forgive: Release the debt.
